Mechanical Calculator 

I designed and manufactured a mechanical calculator with Kalen Richardson capable of addition and subtraction based off the Curta Calculator by Curt Herzstark.

The calculator can complete single digit addition and subtraction from 0-99. A user inputs the number to add or subtract with the slider. Each position of the slider will engage with the corresponding number of teeth on a rotating Leibnitz barrel. A secondary rod then carries that rotation to the 1s and 10s display wheel.

 

All parts were designed to be 3D printed on FDM and SLA machines.
